Privacy & Your Family’s Rights

Shahrzad is a parents’ app: you hold the account and create stories for your child. Here is exactly what we do with your child’s information and the choices and rights you control.

This is a plain-language summary. The full, versioned consent & data policy is shown at the bottom of this page.

What we collect, and why

A photo you upload — used only to create your child’s story character (see “Your child’s photo” below).
Your child’s name and age band — to personalise the story and keep the language age-appropriate.
A short derived description of the character’s appearance — so the character stays recognisable across pages. It is deleted when you delete the character, the photo, or your account.
Voice-chat transcripts — kept and analysed only if you opt in to “insight for parents”; the audio itself is never stored.

Your child’s photo — what happens to it

The photo is used only to create your child’s avatar “sheet” — the reusable reference picture the story illustrations are drawn from.
It is automatically and permanently deleted the moment the avatar is successfully created.
If creation fails, or the photo isn’t clear enough to use, the photo is kept privately until a successful retry (then deleted) or until you delete it yourself.
Once the photo is deleted, regenerating the avatar simply needs a fresh upload.
Photos are never used to train AI.

Your child’s media stays private

The stories, pictures and audio we generate are stored privately and served only through secure, expiring links — never on a public address.
We never sell your data, and we never show advertising to children.
Your child’s data is never used to train, fine-tune, or evaluate AI models, and our processors are contractually bound the same way.

Deleting your data

Delete a single photo, an avatar, a story (and everything it generated), or a conversation at any time.
Delete your whole account — this erases your child’s data across our systems, including removing any voice clone from our voice provider.
Account deletion runs after a short grace period (currently 7 days) that you can cancel, so an accidental request can be undone.
You can also request a copy of your data (a data-subject access request, DSAR).
Honest note: we can delete data we host, but we cannot reach files you have already downloaded to your device, or content other people saved after you shared it.

Your choices: core vs. the optional “insight” opt-in

Core processing (photo, name and age band → illustrated stories and narration) is required — it is what the app does.
“Insight for parents” (keeping and analysing your child’s conversations to offer you insights later) is entirely optional and refusable. Stories work fully without it, and you can turn it on or off anytime in Profile → Privacy & Data.
You agree to a versioned consent at signup; if the policy changes, we ask you again. Declining the optional choice never blocks signup or reduces the core experience.
